Charlotte’s Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Arts School meets the first Tuesday of each month at Petra’s Piano Bar in the Plaza-Midwood Arts District. Petra’s is a popular neighborhood gathering place offering an exciting range of entertainment: jazz, performances, karaoke, theatre, silent movies with piano and, of course, the fabulous Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School.
These two-hour figure drawing sessions feature models with special talents! Bring your own clean art supplies. Admission is $10; $7 for students and teachers. (Petra’s regulars are invited to sit at the bar and enjoy the debauchery without having to pay an admission.) Every session includes silly contests with fantastic prizes provided by our local sponsors.
In addition to frequently featuring the talented performers from Big Mamma D’s House of Burlesque, we have also hosted Renaissance Festival personalities, professional dancers and actors as our models at past sessions.
We are grateful for the continuing support of Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff, the Flying Biscuit Cafes, the Pizza Peel Restaurant and Ale House and Mama Fu’s Asian Cuisine.
We hope you’ll plan to join the Charlotte art monkeys at the next gathering of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Arts School—we meet at Petra’s Piano Bar . Our regular meeting time is the first Tuesday of each month. The doors open at 6:30 and we start drawing at 7 PM.
Admission: $10; students and teachers, $7. Age 18 and older please.
