Branch Blog - New York, NY

The sinister mole-men who control the weather at the center of the Earth have finally turned NYC's dial to "mild". Thank god, as Dr. Sketchy's was white hot this saturday. The girl with the biggest talents in showbiz, Lady Rygel, did strut and fan-dance into our hearts. We had some amazing prizes from Engravingshack.com and a pre-released book of dirty, dirty comics. The Lucky Cat now features tasty pizza and a full brunch menu so we got some food ontoo of all that alcohol. But why talk about it when you can look at it? All photographs by Ryan Roman, super genuis.

After a slight flub with the cd-player, Lady Rygel did do a Fan dance to open the session. A Fan dance to The Cure.

It's hot enough to bake an egg n the sidewalk here in NYC. Sweltering and streaming Art Monkeys suffered dehydration and sun stroke to see Lady J. Can can you blame them?

Yew-ow-zah! I do belive she's made of pure Sexyonium. No only is Lady J hot, but she fronts she own band, Deaf By Stereo, which is primed to take over the world in a violent, musical coup.

Our easrtwhile art monkeys, being all …earstwhile.

Happy Bastille Day Art Singes! To honor the 213th anniversary of Marie Antoinette suffering a slight case of beheading, we presented Darlinda Just Darlinda as a rainbow mermaid clown. What could be more French then that?

Liberte! Egalite! Sparkles!

Black and white means serious. These are serious drawings. Serious drawings of a rainbow clown mermaid in funny poses.

But black and white cannot do justice to the technicolor wonderland that was Darlinda's makeup.

Everything old is new again this week at Dr. Sketchy's as our very first model, the lively Dottie Lux one again graced out stage. Before she came as a naughty clown, delighting us and re-kindling lost childhood nightmares. But this week she came as uh, er ….

Ms.Piggy-Streetwalker-Parasol-Person, thing. It confused and amazed, just the way we like it! I thought she would come as a clown again, so all that circus music seemed curiously out of place. She also brought a whole birthday cake to share with the Art Monkeys. Cake for breakfast! Who says we aren't transgressive?

All photos by Ryan Roman, ShutterMonkey extraordinare.

Full rooms make our wallets happy.

When? Now! Or possibly later. Get back to me.

Once again, the

Hello Art Monkeys!

The hot summer winds brought a whrilwind of rippling man beef to the Dr. Sketchy stage: The White Boom Boom. This boylesque hunk had a whole lotta shakin going on. but also brought in his own gun, holster, cigar, and work shirts to send us to the very heights of rough-trade fantasy. His expertly hyperactive rockabilly CDs didn't hurt either. Enough of my mooning, onto the photos!

MOlly is in Paris this week having "the Operation". Until then Me and Syd Bernstien will drive the whole show into the ground, just for you!

Greetings, art primates of all genera!

Last week, your delightful usual blogger Mr. Leavitt was diagonosed with an ovarian cyst that would later turn out to just be a smudge on the x-ray. He bravely dealt with this illness the way he handles all of life's challenges - with copious amounts of alcohol. So it was that he spent this Saturday in the hospital suffering from liver failure that would later turn out to be another smudge on the same x-ray. The always-lovely Molly Crabapple and I had to run Dr. Sketchy's shorthanded, but what we lack in hands, we more than make up for in chutzpah!

Besides, we all learned a
