Located in the far northeastern corner of New South Wales, Australia, the bohemian beachside town of Byron Bay is home to artists, musicians and colourful characters from all walks of life, lending itself to being the perfect partner for a Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School.

Kicking off our heels in June 2009, Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School, Byron Bay has quickly become an icon of the region. Dr Sketchy’s runs on the third Tuesday of each month at the Byron Bay Boutique Brewery, Skinner Shoot Rd, Byron Bay.

Formally known as the Buddha Bar and Restaurant, and now an award winning brewery and performance venue, The Byron Bay Boutique Brewery plays host to a myriad of local and international acts, and provides a social hub for local artists and the many tourists that come to enjoy the relaxed Byron Bay lifestyle. With its state of the art sound system, lighting, trapese points and stage, the Byron Bay Boutique Brewery allows us to use the site in a dramatic and theatrical manner.

Byron Bay’s Anti-Art School has become a regular meeting point for like-minded artists, students and bohemian lifestylers to socialise, drink, eat and sketch beautiful models. When sourcing models, we have a strong link with the Byron Bay Cirus Arts Centre, and also with the thriving burlesque scenes in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Dr Sketchys Byron Bay has featured many of the top local performers and is also proud to provide a platform for up and coming talent. Interstate models are supported by the adjoining Arts Factory Lodge which provides accomodation.

Overwhelmingly, though, has been the support from the local community with many businesses stepping forward to sponsor the event and enjoy the atmosphere Sketchy’s brings every month. All of which, enables Dr Sketchy’s Byron to run smoothly each month.
