Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow, Art Monkeys!

As you may know, Time Lords are everywhere - in our everyday lives, in pop culture, and even in our burlesque life drawing classes. In case you have been living under a rock (and I won't hold that against you, with the rents in this city being what they are), the 32nd season of the science fiction phenomenon/lifestyle Doctor Who will be starting this Saturday (April 23) on BBC1 (or, on this side of the Atlantic, the only BBC). To celebrate, we had a special session of Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School with Jeffrey Garber portraying the eleventh Doctor and Someone's Mrs. Reynolds as his current companion Amy Pond. Justin Lussier took photographs.

I assure you that all sonic screws in the club were thoroughly driven.

They were apparently unable to get a seat on the subway.

For those of you who were following from the last entry, I have the results of our poll from the last session - this contest will remain The Best Left Handed Drawing. Hooray for inertia!

I don't care how nice your ass is, you should never turn your back on a Dalek!

The theme for our drinking contest was to incorporate Dr. Seuss, because when Dr. Sketchy hosts a Doctor Who session, that is the perfect time to have a Dr. Seuss contest.

That's the sort of bird the Doctor fancies.

I believe this is in reference to the seventh Doctor.

I wonder if Cindy Lou Who is any relation to Dr. Who.

Before you argue with me, there is indeed a character named Dr. Who. He is a doctor, not the Doctor. He invented the TARDIS. He shot J.R. and then he framed Roger Rabbit. Deal with it.

Here we see the titular characters from One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.

This is both in reference to the book Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman (published by Dr. Seuss, so technically it counts) and the Doctor Who episode "The Empty Child." That's impressive whether or not it's intentional.

This one uses The Lorax, which John pointed out was very close to a Doctor Who episode itself.

And the winner, of course, was the stage.

There were a number of things about Dr. Who that didn't make it into the movies, like the fact that he wrote the Book of Love or that he will save your soul if you won't save your own. Sadly, he died and made you king. He was buried in Grant's tomb. To this day, every owl sings his praises.

OK, I'm done now.

Oh no! The Daleks have K-9! Run, K-9!

Our final contest was the best crossover with another science fiction franchise.

You probably know them as the stars of The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix or The Further Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix, but did you know that Slym and Redd got their start on some series called X-Men?

I did not get this reference, so when I got home I looked it up, and I still don't get it.

This Farscape crossover also featured a duck from our good friends at Squishable.

This one got such a cold reception from our audience that I suspect Admiral Ackbar killed one of the audience member's parents. If so, this drawing was in really poor taste.

And those are all the photographs. Thank you to Molly, Melissa, John, Foley, Justin, Yao, Tim, Dolcy, and Dennis. I'll see you soon.
