Well blow me down! This months Dr Sketchy's took it up another level, with Cherry Shakewell returning for a second evening of tassel twirling for us in Falmouth, as well as putting on what I hear to be an excellent burlesque workshop before the evenings sketching commenced. I say hear, because this was a ladies only workshop and no sneakery could get me passed those doors. The long awaited Meme Narciss made her debut appearance this month, and it was certainly worth the wait!

Wonderful event featuring Chicago Starlette, Cherokee Rose. In addition to some fantastic work we discussed the Webster definition of the word Burlesque and cultural appropriations. Cherokee spoke about her heritage and her intention behind her act with is a parody on Native American stereotypes. We included a coloring contest of the most ridiculous coloring page. Who knew the Indians also gave us ARM WRESTLING! There was a whole other series having to do with penises and pilgrims instigated by none other then Dik Donavon our naughty bartender.

Over our summer hiatus, while we were doing anything but hiatusing, we were approached by a committee member from the Olde Kings Jazz Festival. They had attended a few Dr. Sketchy sessions in the past and wanted to know if we would be interested in being part of their 2010 festival. I'm always excited to bring my branch to festivals and other such art events, but need to keep that excitement in check until I get more information. I proceeded to look up everything I could about the event online, converse with people who had been involved or attended in past years and lastly, I made sure to visit the venue that was interested in hosting us.
