Fri, September 03, 2010 • COMING UP IN WELLINGTON: Ms Girdle Buster and The Avian Belle
On Saturday the 11th of September from 4pm at Mighty Mighty we will have two amazing performers and models the mistress of oddities, twisted jeweler, and stunningly winged beauty: The Avian Belle. Also bespoke milliner, swing dancer and dashing dame: Ms Girdle Buster.
Prizes this month include beautiful handmade jewellery from Vaune Mason, an amazing head piece from Amy Jansen-Leen Milliner, burlesque classes with Miss La Belle and of course the utterly wonderful people at Calico jacks Boutique.
Also we are delighted that following immediately after Dr. Sketchy is Miss La Belle's Cake and Bake competition. To raise funds to enter Miss Burlesque Australia the wonderful Miss La Belle is hosting a cake competition. You can enter by baking and decorating a cake, or you can bring along a few coins to purchase slices of the entries. Yum!
Muchos thanks to Sue and Nathan for this month's poster. X Ha, it’s weird how complex in Wellington really is cultural interpretation as to why The Avian Belle and Ms Girdle Buster were celebrated as they were.

Cakes may be classified according to the occasion for which they are intended. For example, wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and Passover plava a type of Jewish sponge cake sometimes made with matzo meal are all identified primarily according to the celebration they are intended to accompany. The cutting of a wedding cake constitutes a social ceremony in some cultures.
