THE BIG SHOW IS JUST FOUR DAYS AWAY! (For 100 RMB presale tickets, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and then pick them up on or before Friday, November 15 at Bloc!) In honor of this weekend's upcoming 2-fer sketchstravaganza, Bare Bones, we'd like to give you some information about our beautiful sponsors, interspersed with our sexy teaser images. Oh look! Here's one now!
Here we go.
First off, we'd like to thank Basement 6 Collective for partnering with us in producing this event and being insanely beautiful, hard-working artists in general. Thanks to them, Bloc will be transformed into a full-on pseudogothic wonderland where our models will strut for the artistic appreciation of all. Special thanks to Katy Roseland for getting so many folks on board with her outlandish enthusiasm, as well as making our promotional poster, our pasties, and the graveyard backdrop for our teaser photos; to Arlene Fiddes for MAKING ALL THE COSTUMES FOR THE EVENT BY HAND (!?!?!?!) and project managing this 'ness like a motherffffer; and to Anneleise Charek for lending a huge helping hand with the bodypainting and handling loads and loads of deliveries of cardboard and other assorted insane materials. (And potentially for videography. Fingers are crossed.) Other special thank-yous go to our photographers, Rachel Gouk, Dave Santiano, and Ng Meizhi, who wasn't in the group shot below as she was taking the picture. The image has been adjusted accordingly.
We'd also love to thank Bloc, our amazing venue for the night. Situated on Changle Lu (139-19 Changle Lu, near Ruijin Yi Lu to be exact), Bloc serves a selection of eastern European fusion fare and does an especially great job at catering to bespoke events needs. (And I speak from experience here--I organize an open-mic comedy night held there every Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. and y'all should come out to that I'm just saying.)
Silent Lion
Shayla Alfonzo
Apphia Campbell
Another HUGE, GIGANTIC THANKS belongs to the models of Bare Bones, Apphia Campbell (of Play the Spotlight Theatre), Shayla Alfonzo, and Silent Lion, who have been incredible in making this show what it is with their ridiculous professionalism, energy, and chemistry. Just look at the crazy shit that happened. This was their idea. They are ALL SO GREAT:
Next up, we want to throw a HUGE shoutout to one of our corporate sponsors, Colorbox Creative Arts Center. A cozy studio school hidden down one of Shanghai’s small alleyways, Colorbox Creative Arts Center is home to an educational program focused on enriching the lives of children and adults through art. Emphasizing hands-on instruction in a creative and supportive environment, Colorbox is a place for students of all levels and ages to come express themselves, receive artistic guidance and encouragement.

Another big shoutout here needs to go to my boss, Jordan Neufeld, founder of New Horizons, whose generous donation went a very long way in making this show happen without us having to go totally broke. He's a good guy with a good test prep company. Thanks, bruh.
Twin Horizon was our very first sponsor and we're so happy to welcome them back as in support of our new show. Twin Horizon is a streetwear label specializing in hand-printed T-shirts and cut-and-sew apparel. Their first T-shirt line, called "Shanghai DIY," was released last year and featured designs inspired by five local independent bands. The designs in their new line, called 成语 (chengyu), draw from linguistic tradition of idiomatic expressions thousands of years old.

Expat Cucina is an Italian cooking blog produced by locally-based chef, cooking instructor, author, and restauranteur Daniela Ingrosso. Daniela focuses on amazing foods you can create using locally-sourced ingredients and equipment found in the typical Chinese kitchen. And now you don't even need to cook in order to try her amazing recipes--just head over to Sale e Pepe and try it for yourself!
Last, but not least, we are happy to have the sponsorship of Play the Spotlight Theatre, Apphia Campbell's theatre company responsible for the recent production of Black Is the Color of My Voice. Come and draw her this weekend, and then see her upcoming play, Holiday Hitch, before she wins an Oscar and we all have to pay a bazillion dollars to see her perform.
And that's that. We hope you enjoy our weird hottness, and we'll see you at the show!
Sincerely,
M.M. Plumm
