Security clearance arrived yesterday evening & we were informed not to bring cellphones, recording devices, weapons (I worry that sharp pencils could be considered a weapon), laptops, drugs/alcohol (coffee?) or chewing gum. No inappropriate footwear (damn it! I said goodbye to my June Carter costume plan of 5" high heels), singlets or spaghetti straps or inappropriate slogans on tshirts. We are given some references as to what not to wear.
The first example being David (the only gay in the prison?) from Little Britain. In his skin tight leathers in red & blue, he is provocative & sporting gang colours. A BIG no.
It's Dr. Sketchy at it's bare minimum! However, we have been informed we can give cookies away as prizes. Sweet, sweet cookies. In prison this is like money. We have farmbake brand. They are $100 bills in a world
This Saturday: Dr. Sketchy "Auckland" goes to PRISON!
One of NZ's South Island cities, Christchurch was hit with a 7.1 earthquake last Sat 4th Sept. Aftershocks have been continuing throughout the week (between 11 - 35 a day ranging from 3 - 5 on the richter scale). Because of this there has been evacuations to a lot of buildings in the city as many are no longer safe to live in.
Christchurch's female prison is one of these buildings. They have evacuated all the prisoners to the Auckland female prison & are looking for activities to occupy the overflow of inmates (many of whom are now double bunking). To help, Dr. Sketchy Auckland will be donating our time to provide a Dr. Sketchy session for the female prisoners.

Hey SKETCHERS! As we said last night, PINK NOISE, the art zine is featuring Dr. Sketchy Auckland in its pages in the near future. The wonderful Katie has offered you lucky members the chance to design the cover for Pink Noise, to appear on the cover of the issue featuring the Dr. Sketchy article.
To submit work for the cover of Pink Noise you need only do the following:
- put together a portfolio of your work which must include one sketch done at a Dr. Sketchy session
