Hello, Art Monkeys.

We all know that modeling is hard work. For those of you who complain about having to move around all the time, you should try standing perfectly still for a while. It's harder than it looks. However, once the model's work is done, the art itself has the even harder job of staying perfectly still for years. It is largely thankless work (Monty Python has explored this theme), which is why at our last session, we allowed figures from a painting to move around and only hold poses for minutes at a time. The painting we appropriated for this session was "Show and Tell" (see above) by Cynthia Von Buhler (see link). Yes, this was

On Saturday, April 2nd, International Pillow Fight Day was declared. Cities worldwide hosted flash mobs of pillow fighters and Newmindspace was the glorious host of NYC's fight. by Rachel Fox We decided, why should photographers have all the fun? And so, we rounded up our art monkeys and invited them to crash the fight with us, sketchbooks in hand, to document the event with their pencils. by Paul Tuller by Yao Xiao Since only the bravest would dare venture into the fray, we

Hello, Art Monkeys.

It may be necessary for you to lie down for a few minutes. If you're experiencing vertigo, it might have something to do with our choice of themes lately. You see, right on the heels of our spectacular Sandman session, we just had our mind-blowing tribute to Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson's comic book masterpiece, Transmetropolitan. If you are unfamiliar with the series, first of all, where the fuck have you been? I guess some sort of explanation is in order. It's sort of like Hunter S. Thompson meets Futurama and... really, I think that's all you need to know. The session was to promote the upcoming Read Full Article

Happy Belated Valentine's Day, Art Monkeys!

I'm sorry this letter didn't reach you until now, but I was spending my Valentine's Day with someone special - Raquel Reed! She was our model for our special Valentine's Day session with the reddest colour palette you have ever seen. Lauren Goldberg was there taking photographs that she has generously allowed me to share with you as a late Valentine's gift.

That is one rude lollipop!

Greetings, Sand-Freaks and Necro-Nerds!

I am still giddy from our last session, where we did a tribute to Neil Gaiman's great gift to graphic literature and serialized story-telling The Sandman. The titular Sandman was not represented (as he wasn't for the bulk of the comic, in fact), but we did have models channeling five of his siblings, the Endless - Death, Desire, Delirium, Destiny, and Destruction. I was Destiny. There is no photographic evidence of this, but if you flip a few pages back in Destiny's book, there is an account of me chaining a book to my wrist, then having to unchain it so that I could put my robe on, then chaining it back. As for the Endless that anyone cares about, Lauren Goldberg has provided pictures of

Greetings, Art Monkeys!

For those of you who, like me, have not yet bought a new calendar, I have some news for you: It's a new year! At least it is by the Gregorian calendar, or as we in the Western world call it, "The Only Calendar that Matters." We rang in the New Year the best way we knew how, with a Dr. Sketchy's session scant hours after New Years. Our model was Velocity Chyaldd, the noiresque, pseudoLynchian femme fetale. I say pseudoLynchian, because real Lynch features Kyle MacLachlan or at least Crispin Glover. I'm sorry, that's how I was raised. Justin Lussier, give me some of those photographs that you do so well.
